Philly Man Killed In Hit-Run Was Barber With 'Passion For His Craft,' Family Says

Friends and neighbors are rallying for the Philadelphia man killed in a hit-and-run crash last Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Toby "Sameer" Bryant, 47, was struck crossing the 7900 block of Ogontz Avenue around 11:15 p.m., Daily Voice reported. Police said the driver got out of their car to assess the damage then sped off. 

The investigation and the search for the suspect are ongoing, authorities have said. 

According to loved ones on GoFundMe, Bryant was a popular barber in his community for 15 years. 

"He truly loved what he did for a living," wrote his daughter Aneesah Hughes-Bryant. "His passion for his craft of being the best barber as well as unwavering dedication to his family touched countless lives."

Aneesah said the family will use the donations to cover funeral costs and other end-of-life expenses. 

"As we prepare for his Janazah please consider supporting his family during this difficult time," she said. "Thank you for honoring his memory and standing by his loved ones."
